Yes you have. Not explicitly, but you absolutely did link the two events in your posts.

I bought a nice guitar to mark the birth of both my kids. When they grow up they can have them if they want, and if not I will have had the pleasure of playing nice instruments made more special by the sentimental attachment.

I think anyone trying to read anything sinister into this is probably trying a little too hard to find reasons to dislike the guy.

after a short think, I've come to the following conclusion, the evidence is clear... a few years ago Rob clearly arranged to have his bands gear nicked on the basis he could crowdfund a good few thousand quid... upon doing so, proceeded to steal the money for himself, within a few days bought a really nice PRS from his mate at a huge discount. He came up with a nice story about it being a birth year guitar for his son, but secretly he planned to keep it for a couple years, wait for the prices of new to go up a bit, and given he got said discount for guitar sell it a profit. All safe in the knowledge that no one would ever know any different.

Seriously though, I'm sure many of us (me included) would see no value in purchasing a guitar with a link to Rob, but there might be someone out there who got some enjoyment out his videos, might have even inspired them after a few years to pick the guitar up again. That someone might be happy to pay a bit extra for a guitar linked to a personality they like. Is there really any harm in that.

I'm sure Rob's made some mistakes over the years, but personally he seems a harmless guy trying to make a living out of something he loves, and lets all be honest it's easy for the rest of us who's mistakes aren't so much in the public eye to judge, when we all know none of us are perfect.

plus, surely there's a new epiphone out that we can all moan about the price of *rolleyes*

This is exactly a pricy watch brands marketing technique.

Buy it for the next generation. Its an investment for your children to pass on the wealth to them

    It starts from £32,000 WTF!

So looks like Chappers has been quite restrained to me

Ok it's a fair assumption to make considering 90% of people aren't cackhanded.

But... wouldn't it make more sense for righties to play lefty guitars, given that the left hand is doing more of the heavy lifting?
Strangely, since starting guitar around 4/5 years ago my left handedness has improved incredibly despite being right handed. I am now able to clean up and do the ironing with both hands.

Add a zero to the end of that number - if you want a steel Nautilus you need to have bought several less "desirable" watches from them.

I've only ever seen one Pateck Phillipe in reality. It made me think I should also have got a London based bank job instead of being a teacher  :)  :)  On yhr other hand, I complain about my work load, but havr never actually had to sleep under my desk as i had so much work on.

After a bit more searching..."Yours" ( not mine, but some ones) for £27,560? Save "you" £5,000 perfect for that customer shop fender to pick up with your spare change on the way home.

    I've read this thread, and I wish I hadn't.

Now you can read this post and wish you hadn't. Three points of order:

1)Cackhanded - It's my understanding that the word has a more specific technical use than simply "sinister", "wronghanded" or "arse-backwards". In golf it refers to a player using the clubs of the other handedness (inverted) in some very specific shots. I recall seeing it on the ol' commentary about 20 years back when a competitor, maybe Phil Mickelson, had a tricky shot from the rough, obstructed by a rock, so used a right hande club 'inwards'. Since then I've used cackhanded specifially to refer to using equipment or techniques meant for the other handed people. Golfers or pedants, please jump in here.

2)If your fretting hand is working harder than the other one, you've got some woodshedding to do.

3)If anything, years of playing guitar have increased by "hand specialisation" at the cost of ambidexterity. My non dominant hand now plays much more of a support role rather than being able to do the same things. Playing a guitar upside down is far easier  than using the wrong hand to strum. I used to be able to throw a ball with my non dominant hand. I'd stand no chance now.

I don't usually get involved in watch threads... but I remember seeing an invoice for a couple of Patek Philippe watches, purchased by a professional footballer.  I think they were six figures each, but I could be wrong.  I'll see if I can find it later.

some of the grand complications are 6 or 7 figures, but you can also get something like a Calatrava for around the £15k mark

My car came back from its last MOT with a series of 'grand complications' that are probably going to render it scrap at its next test.

If only it was worth six figures as a result lol

They are very pretty in person - that's not me suggesting they're worth it (or not). Note on that one that you can't just buy it, you have to contact customer services.

That's what I meant - you can't walk in off the street with £30k and walk out with a steel Nautilus. You need to have spent six figures on other PPs before you can go on the wait list. Maybe if you've spent six figures on other watches at the dealer you'd have the chance.

It is weird to me. Same with Porsche.

Shame there’s no best offer option…

I’ve got a USA Strat that was QC’d the week my son was born (2012) put away in storage for his 18th birthday.

I did this for my daughter. Bought a 2003 USA Strat with the aim of giving it her on her 18th.

She's now a hell of...... a clarinet player.

I ended up buying the guitar from her as it's the best strat I've ever played. She is very happy with the financial arrangement.... me, less so!
I’ve considered a similar outcome and I’ll just keep the guitar for myself so win-win.

To be fair it's not the biggest mistake he's made. I think that would be the beaded dreadlocks. He looked like a caucasian cross between Floella Benjamin and Trevor McDonald.

Here we go, this is what they bought:

Patek Philippe Grand Complication 18ct Rose Gold, Manual Wound Perpetual Calendar Chronograph - £163,940
Then another one, I don't have the details - £44,760

The land underneath my house is, apparently, owned by some set of twats in Bristol to whom I pay a yearly penance of £4.50. Billable twice a year.

On the face of it not so bad coughing up £2.75 every six months but, in reality, I have a problem with "never owning" something.

No idea what this has to do with watches or a well-known YouTube guitarist.

    Sorry.

Maybe a candidate for the dementia clinic that was mentioned earlier.

    What was the question again?

Guitar-related watch nerdery - Dan Spitz, ex-lead guitarist of Anthrax, is now a serious world-class watchmaker. Hard to believe the guy jumping around madly with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles graphics on his Jackson Rhoads guitars in so many of their '80s videos now sits there hand-grinding 1.5mm gear wheels...
