Thanks chap. I vaguely remember the name Haydn Williams although I may be thinking of an actor. I'll look him up as I'm not keen on sending stuff like this through couriers. I've read too many horror stories. Probably on here!
You maybe thinking of Haydn Gwynne  ;)
    Couriers...

Haha. That's the biggest reason I went for a partial refund rather than send it back. It actually plays very nice indeed. There's certainly no fret buzz.
I'm not being individually critical, but therein lies one of the problems with trying to prove the "not fit for purpose" clause of the consumer rights act.  If it does what it needs to do in a satisfactory way at the time it is sold, then the only aspect left to argue is whether the seller should have mentioned that there was insufficient metal left for a future fret level and crown.

Yeah it does kind of make you think what was all the fuss about then?

Perhaps the photo showing the angle of the floating tremolo (and hence the steep angle of attack away from the fretboard and next fret up, when fretted) will attest to why it is, in its as sold state, avoiding any fret buzz, lol.

I thought it was a dog of a thing, personally.

That in no way means Raptor Cheeses can't like it as is. And good for him if he's found an instrument he likes.

Well, it's probably true that you can play a tune on pretty much any guitar.
However, when you're looking at a high-end gear, the bar is somewhat higher.
If you bought a Rolex watch described as in good condition and when you received it it was scratched and didn't keep time, then you'd rightly be a bit miffed.

In the case of this one, the description is so vague that you can only make assumptions about it.
In fairness to RichTone they do say: "If you are looking for something in extremely good condition it is advised to call for a detailed talk through of the item before ordering."; I'd be inclined to disregard the "extremely" in that comment and call and ask questions, maybe try and do a video call.
I certainly couldn't buy it unseen.
However, there is a caveat to that: if you do do a video call, then that could be deemed to be having viewed it and so you'd lose your distance selling rights.

I've been to a shop to look at a bass which was enthusiastically endorsed by a member of a specialist group and bigged up by the shop owner, only to be really disappointed on seeing and playing it; I offered half the asking price, because it needed (at least) the difference spending on it, but they seemed to think they had a gem on their hands and the offer was declined.I may drop by again sometime to see if it's still there.

It was a bit of a jokey post. It plays real nice right now because I'm basically playing a Vigier Surfretter. There's barely anything getting in my way. Same with the fret buzz comment. There's no fret buzz cos there's bugger all frets. I've actually toyed with the idea of getting it re-fretted with ultra low SS frets so I don't have to keep getting it re-fretted every 3 months. See how it goes.

I suspect me and Rob go at guitars in different ways. He's a far more selective individual and I'm a bit too laid back. If he isn't a luthier then he probably should be with the attention to detail he shows. With me, if it feels good in my hands and sounds good to my ears, then all's well. Yes, it does need certain things fixing, frets aside, but I can sort those out myself. When/if I can be arsed.
