CK I have no probs at all if the replicas you were referring to were yours..far from it, I admire your skills. I just don't see the reason for all the cloak and dagger.

In 2017 I'm going to treat myself to a really good Les Paul. So, back to my question...what type of cost are we talking here to commission a top quality replica?
You been put off an R8 like mine already? ;)

Seriously - it's the best LP I've played

I know, I was more referring to Skipped's comment previously.
I have praised Gil Yaron many times and if I bought a Replica I would ask the builder to put his own name on the top to celebrate his talent.
If that is a controversial thing to say.....the Forum is broken.

one person disagreeing with your definition of a replica does not break the internet. ;)

Plenty more disagree and a whole load more agree and actually buy them

I even think Joe b has played one on stage at some point

The vintage guy has friends with top vintage stuff and some still have a high end replicas

A guy over in the state's has a stack of vintage stuff Inc a 59, he's probably got as many high end replicas by different builders
I know very little about gibsons n thier replicas but I own a gretsch replica handmade by a guy in california called Jim English. These are high end handmade semi acoustic guitars very much replicating a single cut gretsch 6120.
Tommy Emmanual is on youtube playing his and he talks about it been a replica.
    I guess it's simular with gibsons n the likes. <a href="http://s1078.photobucket.com/user/davidmountan123/media/DSC_0006_zpsth3k3yv2.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w494/davidmountan123/DSC_0006_zpsth3k3yv2.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSC_0006_zpsth3k3yv2.jpg"></a>

  • A good guitar is a good guitar, no matter who made it or when it was made. People need to remember that. I always try and close my eyes when I first play a guitar... because the name on the headstock, the price, the rarity and 'boutique' effect will ALL bias you either positively or negatively.
