Half-expected to hate this. But I don't. I quite like it. Thanks for sharing.
Damn. I've been anticipating this ever since I heard of it's inception. I really hoped for something to rid him of the over 'complicated-ness' that's marred his sound since the awful 22 dreams.
This sounds like he's continued on the wrong path to me.

Recently acquired "Bayou Country", "Green River" and "Creedence Clearwater Revival" :D
I'm getting into CCR at the moment. JF wrote some great tunes indeed.

  • Reminds me of the round in I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue where they have to sing the words of one song tobthe tune of another, in that it's a poignant song about 911....but set to the backing track of Ian Dury's "Sex and Drugs and Rock n Roll"...kinda

I've started listening to Roland S Howard again. Still one of the best songs I've ever heard, simplistic playing but it just works (and makes me feel better about my own playing at the same time)!

And you know what else? Those safety lids on bottles of sanatogen. There I am trying to get the lid off and along comes my six year old and says "there you are daddy" and it's off in a Jiffy. Someone's gonna get hurt.

When you consider how many stonking great songs they came out with in such a short space of time it's mind-boggling. They were releasing albums at the rate of a couple a year.

I heard this on Radio 2 the other day and didn't know what it was ( or rather whose version of the song).
It doesn't sound very Radio 2 or very Jeff Beck and its a nice reinterpretation. Imogen Heap on vox I think.
Edit : obviously I did find out! :bz

I've been listening to a lot of the Divine Comedy today, having borrowed the best-of CD from my dad. It's not new to me - I used to listen to it the whole time when I was a little kid, but I heard it again for the first time the other day and was just blown away. Obviously as a kid with no musical training I didn't appreciate the full depth of it, but it's superb music. I was surprised by how much of it I remembered :D

"The Certainty of Chance" is unbelievable, one of the best things I've heard for ages.

Haven't heard that before, very good! As a bonus, if you time it right the bee at the bottom of your post dances perfectly in time with it.

Just listened to this for the first time in about 20 years. I used to buy lots of 4AD albums on spec and was rarely disappointed. I quite like this one Ultra Vivid Scene - Mercy Seat
