I've just had my 63rd birthday so I've been playing for 50 years now. To be more accurate, I started playing 50 years ago but plateau'd when I was about 18 and have had the last couple of decades pretty much off. I'm planning to retire this year and have "get back to playing guitar" on my list, along with "learn to play the piano" (in order of priority, though I'd like to do both).
My first guitar was an Audition from Woolworths (together with the same brand amp), which I followed with an Antoria SG to which I fitted DiMarzio dual-sound humbuckers and a phase switch. I currently have a Westone Prestige 250, a 1976 US Strat (hardtail, maple neck), an Epiphone Elite SG (before they became "Elitist") and a PRS 245 SE. Amp-wise I have a Spark 40 and still mourn the Marshall 2x12 combo I sold in around 1980.
Following a hand operation a couple of years ago fingerpicking is no longer an option so I'm going to have to learn right-hand technique pretty much from scratch, which could be fun. So far I haven't mastered holding a pick hard enough so I don't drop it whilst gently enough to let it flex a bit.
To answer the standard questions:
Q1: Where did your username come from? The one I wanted to use was taken so I just made this one up
Q2: Where in the world/country are you? North Yorkshire
Q3: What's your main musical ambition? Play better than I did when I was 18
Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one? I do like my PRS but owning a Gibson Les Paul is on my bucket list
Q5: Your #1 ever track - again, just the one? Impossible question. The live version of Free's "The Hunter" has a guitar solo that still sends shivers down my back so maybe go with that.
My trading feedback: https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/210335/yorkie
Q1: Where did you username come from?
My name is eddy.. and I play a six string guitar so eddysix..
Q2: Where in the world/country are you?
I'm in Beirut, Lebanon. I was born in Greece, grew up in Belgium, studied in the US, and now I make wine for a living in this Mediterranean country.
Q3: What's your main musical ambition?
Simply, improve my guitar playing skills.. Technically I'm relatively advanced but a bit weak on the music theory
Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?
My Parker Fly Classic (pre-refined)
Q5: Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?
Almost Honest - megadeth
just because you do, doesn't mean you should.
2. I'm in the West Midlands in the UK, and no, I no longer have the accent!
3. My main ambition to is to continue to enjoy learning my instrument and playing with others. Honestly this is my therapy and the more I learn and jam and gig, the more I realise I don't know and therefore want to learn!
4. Best bit of gear currently is my HSS Pro II Strat, the most versatile and playable guitar I've owned
5. Best song...very mood dependent, but on balance, proabbly Since I've Been Loving You, Led Zeppelin.
Hey, I'm a long time on-off guitar hobbyist.
1. Username is a bit of a random combo
2. I'm from South-East UK innit bruv
3. Musical ambition is just to get on top of a DAW (probably Cakewalk 'cos it's free and has a nice reverb included), learn drum sequencing and maybe get some semblance of a song or two together.
4. Best bit of gear I want to say is a recently acquired Les Paul Studio, but honestly it's got to just be my computer setup. Spending years trying to get decent sounds at "bedroom volume" with low watt valve amps just never worked out practically for me. Got an iRig 2 bundled with Amplitube about six years ago and I've played way more in the time since than in the past 20 years combined.
5. Picking one song is impossible, but relating to sort of guitar music I like I'll pick Let it Happen by Jimmy Eat World.
Long time lurker, just posted in the classifieds so finally introducing myself.
I've been playing guitar for about 24 years and should probably be better than I am. Very much a rhythm guitarist, fret noodling has never been my thing despite Metallica being part of the reason for me learning guitar. More than happy to sit making 'silly' textural noises with my guitar and pedals these days.

Bit of an old timer here from the UK. Playing for 50+ years and now exploring the world of ultra cheap guitars. Some of my good guitars have been gathering dust in the attic and so I was amazed to discover just how good entry level guitars have become. Hoping to do a review shortly on a Fazley, SX and Harley Benton.

Mark from Doncaster. I’ve been playing guitar for 40 years - though you’d struggle to tell. My ambition is to improve but enjoy the process. I enjoy building kit amps and cobbling together the occasional partscaster. Enjoy most of the classic rock stuff but also like different genres.
Can't believe I've only just come across this site in my 30s! Great to be part of the community.
