@Fretwired - at what cost? Backing labour policies will enable them to push their own agenda. Independence in the best possible financial terms for Scotland - English people will be pissed off, rightly or wrongly.

And so Scotland votes out, and Jeremy loses his lead and we get another election...
Sturgeon will lose seats. The Scots don't want independence. However, they'd probably back stopping Brexit.
Again, any government that stops Brexit will have a backlash from the uk population the likes of which we haven't seen for a long time..

This whole thing was caused by Cameron giving an in/out referendum in order to avoid a surge by UKIP.
    Party before country.
    What a cunt.
Correct, He got away with the Scottish referendum and gambled on Brexit going his way. Hopefully we will get some people in power who will actually negotiate an amicable parting of ways with the EU. Rather giving them the finger and immediately fucking off to suck off Donald Fucking Trump

Question is, how can we start Brexit negotiations without a majority government? Surely that means we'll have to have representatives from both sides at the table?

My summary if the polls are correct:

Its just too complicated. Much as a progressive alliance would be great, once you throw in Scottish Independence, Brexit, and ordinary politics, this all looks like our worst nightmare.

I'm pretty chipper. It's given everything a big old fuck-off shakeup, which is what we need.

That @capo4th fella looks a bit daft now eh.

We need a new force in politics - I predict a Terry Morgan-lead 'new' SDP....

Will it be an exact copy of the old SDP?

this all looks like our worst nightmare.
Or the best chance in a lifetime to get proper cross-party consensus on every issue, instead of a 'majority' government imposing its will on everyone else.

    But I'm probably hopelessly optimistic.

"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein

  • Still looks like a Tory win, but without a clear majority. Will be interesting to see how it all pans out tomorrow.

Personally I would love a con/lab joint cabinet to get Brexit absolutely right, with an election straight afterwards.

But it's as likely as Andertons selling Terry Morgans

Although it could - probably will - plunge the country into (even more) political chaos, I do get a buzz out of elections which turn out wildly contrary to expectations.

None of the other progressive parties support another Scottish referendum. But, and I think this is the key, it's pretty clear that overwhelmingly Scotland doesn't favour it either. If Sturgeon is willing to say no to a further referendum on independence, and agrees to a vote on the brexit deal once we know it, a deal is possible.

Another factor in play is that of all the exit polls, the Scottish ones are the least trustworthy. Any mistakes will be in the SNPs favour, this making the opposition block bigger.

Finally, it looks like Theresa May will have more time to send @capo4th  spank bank material, as she'll be back on the back benches.

Well, Newcastle and Sunderland are interesting.

    UKIP sunk. Dead. Buried.

Not it as big a swing as the exit poll suggests.

It is going to be a long night, and it is now clear that it is too early to call anything here...

    STOP PRESS TWO

Looks like Tories will scrape over the line .. smaller majority though.

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

How do you get a swing in a rock solid safe seat .. :-)

Now my time to admit to bad wording ;)

Of course, I meant Tory vote share increased by a larger percentage than Labour percentage :)
