Apart from the fact that little of what he listed is a stereotype but exaggerated opinions on a single person, not a standard set of "rules" used to blanket persons of a certain type ie "all short people are angry" or "all Welsh people have sexual intercourse with farm animals"
You say that as if the post I was responding to was a statement of fact.

Was just being picky over the use of the word stereotype, nothing more :D

we need politicians of all parties to put differences aside and work together to ensure a strong Britain post Brexit.

I agree.......you can dream up all the manifestos you want but without a strong economy to support it you're a bit buggered!...
No we don't. We need politicians to wake up and smell the coffee (or Trump word) and go cap in hand to the EU and say we made a mistake and Brexit is off. The last think the UK needs now is Brexit. May looks like she's close to a nervous breakdown and won't last the course. Her reputation is in tatters.

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

    Hmmm.

    As opposed to
Let's give free stuff to everyone
Let's tax the fuck out of people we consider to be rich and blame them for all of our problems so that we feel better
    Let's put everything on credit
Let's have a leader who has been bought by the unions, supports terrorists and considers Venezuela to be a socialist heaven
Let's have a Chancellor who would like to disband the security services
Let's have a Home Secretary who is pompous, racist and unable to master he brief.

    Oooh. stereotypes are FUN.
i never proposed any of that.
    sharing is caring
just share the wealth a tad
the people that actually do the work deserve some of the rewards too

Is there an inherent assumption that all better off or wealthy people are selfish bastards?

Why? Often I think the answer is envy and resentment on the part of the accusers, cos they don't have the same prosperity.

Most people you come across with money have earned it through graft, and are decent people, not bent, not exploitative, just straight up hard workers.

As for "working class" - i hate that term. Its prejudicial and derogatory. Just what does it mean? It is a blanket term used to describe what? and for what?

Middle class - another load of shit. BLeeding class warfare, something the Labour party is very guilty of. I don't care about someone's background or income or education: what I care about is what they are like as a person, that's all that should matter.

We should be able to move beyond this class stereotyping, its regressive and negative, and hugely out of date. But we Brits are obsessed by it, and use it to define and categorise people. All wrong IMO.

So many liars in politics. A bunch of horrible slippery people. I don't rate John McDonnell as a shadow chancellor, and certainly disagree with his politics, but to be fair to him, he has come across (in the last 24 hours) as straight up and honest. Good fella.

AS for the next Tory leader-  only one person for it IMO: Ruth Davidson. She is straight talking, credible and tough. She would be an ace PM. And she's anit BRexit, double good.

T May though - oh you stupid get.

Technically (Marx) the working class are people whose income is derived through working. It covered everyone from a chimney sweep to a university processor. The aristocracy didn't work nor did the 'capitalists' (people who owned the means of manufacture or distribution).

As society developed the middle class was a way of identifying the educated professional classes - doctors, teachers etc.

As a remoaner, I would love that to happen.

However, I think if this happened we would be plunged into even more chaos.

I think we need to turn the UK off and on again and let the whole bloody thing boot up again.

British Airways tried that ... it didn't go well.

Listening to business experts if we start Brexit negotiations without a strong government (Tory remainers will block hard Brexit) then we run the risk of creating uncertainty, damaging relations with the 27 EU members further and watching the pound crash further. Capital will leave the UK along with banks and other businesses. It will be a mega shitstorm. May's not up to the job of dealing with this as he have 27 EU members, the Labour Party, Lib Dems, SNP, DUP and probably Donald Trump.

Someone needs to explain it to the population. It may make the Tories unelectable for decades, but its what's best for the country. Momentum is building so let's see what happens.

Corbyn did convince a lot of inexperienced young people to vote Labour with a fantasy wish list manifesto.

Social media has played a big part I genuinely believe that the vast majority of his manifesto would never have got off the ground if he had been elected.

Too far fetched and disasterous for business but many people believed him and his policies.
I've tried remain pretty anonymous on here, but your post has enraged me to this point

I'm 17, slightly too young to vote, but actively engaged in politics

Let's put it this way - we have 2 choices, either:
    • Be guaranteed to be 40k in debt before going in to work, housing being so unaffordable that you're forced to stay with your parents, with the rich getting richer and many of the youth forced to work 2 or 3 jobs to keep up with student debt, housing and living costs
    • Take up a plan which is a too far-fetched, but actually acknowledges your existence and is hopeful for the future
I am by no means a Corbynite, I'm still not entirely convinced by his leadership, but frankly it was him or a continuation down the same path

The future's not exactly looking great
    Stop crying, start buying

Good question that, well spotted - probably not actually. Jsut reading, she could become a candidate in the next by election and become an MP, but can't go for PM unless she's an MP, not an MSP.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that it's the highest ever number of female MPs? And without any artificial meddling

If you paid £35000 a year in tax and a politicians manifesto was going to cost you another £6000
    would you be happy ?

I grew up on a council estate, my parents had no money. I am working class.

Don't tell me about hard work and I won't apologise for where I am today as it's all through hard work over the last 20 years. I would still not class myself as rich due to having a massive mortgage to pay every month and I choose to send my son to a very good private school.
