I'm glad there was a Battlefield trial on Xbox this weekend because it reminded me that it's the same old thing, and it did not look like a next gen game at all. Pass from me.

Has anyone tried the GTA remasters?

I downloaded San Andreas as it’s on Game Pass… I played these three games to death back when they were new and loved them all, but San A feels and looks bloody awful from my short first play last night. Can’t see me picking it back up to be honest. I was away to just pay out the £55 for the trilogy too before I decided to try San A first.

Vice City was my favourite but you have to buy the trilogy to get it. I saw an article as well saying that a lot of the music is not in the remasters too.

Heard it has got a lot of problems, the rain effect is ridiculous! I liked the idea of playing then again with updated controls but won't be bothering now I've seen gameplay.

Eh, I had one on pre-order but cancelled it after accepting how little I actually game these days! Who knows, if it takes off and gets decent support then maybe I’ll try one in future

Looking at the games list and their statements on it, it looks like a lot of games will be supported. Both past and future.

It kind of got mixed reviews so I haven’t taken the plunge. How is it?

It’s more the hardware support that concerns me, Steam don’t have a great track record there.

I played the early access for Battlefield 2042 and it was utterly atrocious. I'm going back to Battlefield 4 and not trying it again until it's free on Game Pass Ultimate.

Yea I said a few posts ago that the demo was pretty bad. I don’t know how they’ve messed it up this much.

I’ve been trying out Battlefield 2042 with the 10 hrs free play time on Gamepass and it is, as stated, utterly shit. The worst Battlefield since Hardline - the maps are dreadful, there’s no team play at all and the gameplay and mechanics are just a complete mess. It’s a total no effort cash grab. Im going back to V, which has actually developed into a really good game.

Another thing for me is that I find it difficult to play shooters online on console now. I need a mouse and keyboard and I don’t really PC games at the moment due to space so unless they really sort this game out I probably won’t get it.

My thoughts exactly, I played a few hours last night.

It feels almost Forza Horizon 4.5, rather than 5. It’s the same Festival set up, the same chasing planes and stuff. FANTASTIC looking game, plays great and would blow your mind if you not played a modern racer but it seems too much the same as 4.  I am not sure how much longevity it has for me either.

Another vote here for "Wow, but meh!"  Played it for a while, but very similar to 4.  I enjoyed 4, but the festival aspect of the series and nauseating voice acting grates me enough to not dig much further into 5.

The screenshots looked alright, but I haven’t heard good things about them.

I uninstalled San Andreas the next day after my test play of it. Reviews have been very negative (as far as they can be) and comparisons on the likes of Digital Foundry, while being very measured and objective… are very damning I’d say.

I bought I ages ago in a sale, but had never played it until this week… but I appear to be semi-addicted to Skyrim already after 2-3 evenings on it.

This is good actually as Horizon 5 is ace but I can’t see me playing it much as it’s really more of the same, but better. Battlefield sounds like a no go and GTA hasn’t worked out in my purchasing plan as I’d expected.

Really agree with the comments about the cringey dialogue and voice acting in Horizon 5. Give me back my Stig-like fully mute world class racing driver.

What does make me laugh is how insanely similar the dialogue is to a crappy kids TV show, yet as soon as you buy a van or taxi the first recommended community made paintjob is something pornographic. The duality of this game is fantastic.

It’s an arcade sim isn’t it so it’s gonna have all of what you said, but as they’ve got a lot of elements from their less arcadey main driver sim it’s gonna straddle the lines somewhat delicately. I played 4 a lot so this is just too much for me too soon.

For a 10 year old game, it holds up really well.  It's worth installing a few mods to take some of the rough edges of though - the unofficial patch is a must and I have a few quality of life mods as well (better map, instant mining and a couple if others).

I've started another play through, mainly to see if I can actually get to the dragonborn dlc before I move on to another game.  I think I quite like the idea that there's a big chunk of the game I've not experienced yet.  I'm the same with fallout 4, still got nuka world to do.
