I got the bluray of The Addams Family. After not being available for so long I wondered if I would still love it.

    I did.

Raul Julia was amazing. Perfect performance.
Addams Family Values is as good, too... rare for a sequel.

Myranda, I'm afraid some deaf people would find that response a bit patronising? :D

Watched 'An Education' last night - missed it at the cinema when it came out. A bit predictable and perhaps not totally convincing - even though it's supposedly based on a true story - but very well made and acted. A strong 8/10 I think.

  • Amongst other things, the gf and I watched Easy Rider, and Still Crazy over the weekend. She'd seen neither (which surprised me a great deal). She didn't like Easy Rider ("a 'non-film' in which nothing happens except a couple of bikers die") but she thought Still Crazy was funny and she'd definitely watch it again.

WWZ.Not getting much love on here but I was lucky enough to watch the special edition that has MrsTheweary pointing out how it differs from the book and Eric JrJr pointing out the glaring logical inconsistencies.
Anybody else spot the ( presumably unintentional)Father Ted reference?

End of Watch - Slightly odd. No real plot, just characters and events. Really enjoyed it.

Finally watched Tommy over 3 sittings. Struck by it's resemblance to Willy Wonka at times but I think just cause its from a similar period.
It has some good moments (Tina Turner as the Acid Queen for example) but I can't say I was gripped.

    The Wolverine

Fairly standard superhero stuff but good fun. Certainly miles better than Xmen3 or Origins:Wolverine. High hopes for Days of Future Past

Stakeland (I think it was called) pretty standard road movie, but with vampires and religious cultists. Low key, mostly unknown (or unrecognisable) cast but all in all I enjoyed it. I am a sucker for road movies, and undead movies, so it pretty much ticked my boxes.

    yep good film me liked..

Disconnect, really enjoyed it had a couple of parts I didnt predict which was cool; like Vim is a sucker for road movies I am a sucker for interwined lives ones, Crash, Magnolia, 21 Grams etc.... and Disconnect falls perfectly into that list.

  • The Lemmy documentary - pretty entertaining.

Resident Evil Extinction - standard zombie fare but not bad.

World War Z - I liked it, mixed up some good elements of zombie flick and suspense.

U571. Total bollocks, featuring the only submarine that has an interior like an auditorium. The CGI was crap, and they seemed to have forgotten that it was a British job, with no American involvement. I can't help but think that the makers hadn't watched "Das Boot", because if they had, they wouldn't have bothered with this pile of poo.

  • The Eagle.
21st century shiny white teeth are so annoying in historical dramas. I suspect the horses were wrong as well. Otherwise enjoyable romp. I think the moral of the story is be wary of Scotsmen.
