Mr Turner. Despite starring the excellent Timothy Spall, and at the risk of being branded a philistine, I would seriously recommend not wasting two miserable hours of your lives on this.

It was on at the London Film Festival, but I thought I could tell just from the look on Timothy Spall's face in the posters exactly what (a) his performance and (b) the film were going to be like.  Not for me.

Bad Neighbours. Seth Rogan being crass, as usual. Not bad, has a couple of funnyish moments.

    Boyhood - 5/10

After the initial "wow they took 14 years to make this, amazing" wore off, it's basically a three part TV drama smushed together to create one arse-numbingly long movie about the making of an emo teen. Never quite descended into dull and so I managed to watch the lot in one sitting, but if I wasn't massively hungover I probably would've found something better to do. Linklater still likes his angsty quasi-existential soliloquies and they really start mounting up in the last half hour or so as the film fumbles around in an effort to justify itself. Not bad but not recommended.

    TMNT - 6/10

Yay Turtles! Roughly follows the plot of the first movie, Shredder and Splinter now extra badass, Megan Fox ftw. Missing Casey Jones though so I knocked off a couple points for that

    The Babadook - 6/10
Had a reasonable amount of promise, yet it was just a bit too long for what it was, and is the only horror I have seen to have a happy ending.

The Edge Of Tomorrow - 7/10
Groundhog day with aliens, guns and Emily blunt. 'nuff said

    The 25th Reich - don't even bother/10
So shit, it's actually shit. Built up a load of tension, then got outright weird when a giant metal nazi spider butt rapes an american without warning. WTF

    The Grey - 6/10
Liam Neeson plays a depressed hunter-type in a plane crash. I enjoyed it but i can see how some might find it boring.

The Silence Of The Lambs - 9/10
A classic for a reason, one of my favourite films now. Great psychological thriller that is oddly captivating.

    Battle Royale - 8.5/10
The hunger games concept, but Japanese and WAY MORE FUCKING BRUTAL @Drew_FX might enjoy it actually.
    Thoroughly enjoyable.

    Oldboy (Original Japanese) - 8/10
Long, and difficult to watch but worth the effort. Freaky in all the right places.

    Alvin & The Chipmunks "Chipwreked"

Worse than it sounds, though there was a nice lady in it who even though she had a bit of a conk was still very nice to look at.

    1/10 for the film

7/10 for Jenny Slate (the nice lady with a bit of a conk)

    The Raid.

I know it's the same story as Dredd (and I know that Dredd was written first, but released second) but it was still very enjoyable.

The fight scenes were excellently performed and they had enough old school kung-fu influence to make them really entertaining, even if in real life fights don't last that long.

As with all subtitled movies sometimes I ended up reading too much and missing the action, and sometimes forgetting to read!

    A very solid 7/10

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

I really want to watch the babadook.

    Don't expect too much.

I saw it at Frightfest this year, some people really loved it.  Personally I thought it had some very good moments but overall...not so sure.
