Not strictly playing by the rules as the rest of you have chosen road cars, but it's the Ferrari P4 by a considerable margin.

As we're going "best looking", not "most beautiful", I genuinely love how these look.

My dad had one of those in the early 80's same colour as well. It replaced an Alfa Montreal!

Was it as rubbish as I suspect?

I'd love a restomodded one with AWD and moderate levels of oomph.

  • I don't think I've ever seen a Rancho before. It's like if someone copied the LR Discovery except somehow they did it 10 years before it was invented.

Both stunning lookers - hard to believe these are over 60 years old, they look like concept cars
Health and Safety would forbid a windscreen that small today, surely.

Yes, even though it was only 2 wheel drive my dad deluded himself that it could go off road. We ended up getting stuck a couple of times.

it was quickly replaced with a Range Rover.

Not necessarily the most beautiful but two cars that I’ve always thought were pretty much perfectly proportioned and hence great looking are the Peugeot 106 XSi and the BMW E46 M3

This, of course, is the correct answer

    Toyota 2000GT.

Useless info- it's in You Only Live Twice- but - as a convertible because Connery was too tall for the coupe, so Toyota made 2 cabs for the film

The 2000 GT is an immensely collectable and £400,000 plus car now.......stunning thing
Datsun 240z was a bit similar and also highly collectable
Both are loosely modelled on a scaled down Ferrari Daytona
@Gassage .....I mentioned the Dino earlier on .......exceptionally pretty little 2.4 V6 but it's quite amazing that a late 80s Golf GTI 16v would have given it a caning on a circuit without too many tight bends......the mid engine and perfect balance were the real bonus of the Dino

  • The most recent 2000GT that wasn't race-prepped went for $1m. If money were no object it'd be very high on my shopping list.

Was going to suggest the DS Decapotable - but someone got there earlier. Always liked the big DS with the later headlamp shape:

But did we say it had to be a road car ? if not, then:

(or indeed...any other Group C racer type thing :) )

But the 917 was a Group 7 car, long before the days of Group C.  But I'm not disagreeing.

There's only 350 ever made- they will fetch well north of a million now.
