Do you think we'll see a Helix in the classifieds before the year is through?

Thats what I'm hoping for. And for half the price. Delivered with a complimentary sandwhich and backrub.

though I don't see any of that happening

Question. Is setting up a system like: "one path without cab modelling output to amp, one with cab modelling to PA" easy, or a pain?

I assume it would be but then I think about delays and reverbs that are after the amp in the signal chain and start to worry about routing and DSP limits.
    Easy least
In fact exactly how I run it except in stereo
I have my patch set up with my various amps and fx (until I ran out of the 10 footswitches)
Then after the amp I split into a stereo (dual) cab which goes into the PA and no cab which goes into 2 1/4 outs and into 2 Fryette power stations
I put an EQ block in before the 1/4 outs just to tailor it for the Freyettes
I have the volume knob just set up to control the 1/4 out puts for backline
    Works amazingly well

So are most shops still out of Helix stock...what a feckup!

I'm losing interest fast and will wait for the updated version...
They should totally build a new factory for £20million to make sure they have more capacity than they'll ever need so they can mothball it 6 months later.

It's funny how AxeFX (and lots of 'boutique' pedals) having a waiting list is seen as almost a good thing and part of the appeal of a 'specialist' product, but with Line 6 it's seen a huge failing...

I suspect that Line 6 may have misunderestimated how many sales they'd get. It's not a cheap bit of kit after all (though it is a bit of a bargain).

Guys - Im looking to put together a small home recording set up. Will the Helix suffice as a USB audio interface into my Mac with Cubase or Logic?

It'll work perfectly and do until you decide you want more inputs ;)

Though it does give you quite a few inputs.

When you decide that you really need 3 Mics to record your acoustic ;)

    Is it a Manzer?

Acoustic with a stereo mixed pair of Rode M5's and. Ribbon or Valve mic as a room mic. This setup is superb at giving any acoustic guitar a real 3D perspective

Where are we all setting the input impedance? And how do we feel about high Sag settings?

I put my input impedance down to minimum today and it gave me a much more natural tone. Combined with a high sag settings, I got really pleasing results.

Auto for me too so far.

Currently I'm mostly playing with using wet/dry routing. Gated reverbs, modulating other stuff, trying to build a "freeze" type effect.

I set my impedance to Auto, it suits both my EMG equipped guitars plus my LP and Strats

Andertons are still showing expected arrival of my Helix Rack and controller on Thursday. So I'm (ambitiously) hoping they can get it to me on Friday / Saturday.

    That would be rather awesome.

Then I'll have to properly investigate expression pedals.

  • I've bitten the bullet and ordered a floor version and I'm hopeful it'll be with me this week. All being well I'm looking forward to comparing it with my Kemper when it arrives.

    Nice.

I just need @Digital_Igloo to get the models for the Darkglass B7K bass drive / preamp pedal done and I reckon it might just be able to replace my fecking huge pedalboard.

The bass amp selection is fine, as 90% of bassists look for an Ampeg sound and a starting point, and the GK model will do the more modern sounds very nicely, but the bass FX, particularly drives, need more options to convince bassists to take the plunge.

I'm planning to put my Darkglass pedals in the loops, but I'd prefer not to have to!
