Watched the first half of The Hunt last night (kind of recommended earlier). Had to get to bed early for work so haven't finished it yet.

Shit, that's a harsh set up for a story. Will get back to it over the weekend.

Weird to see Mads "Hannibal" Mikkelsen playing a normal Dad in an abnormal situation without killing anyone!
And watched the rest tonight. No spoilers, but a really great film. Awkward to watch and very provocative. Not one for the knee-jerk generation that's for sure.

Oh, I rewatched Casino Royale at the weekend. Now we have a big telly I could spot the Richard Branson cameo.

It is a great film pretty much up to where they get the casino, after which the plot makes no sense and some of it gets very silly. Film of some great set pieces but somewhat in search of a story line.

Still massively better than the giant fuck up that was Quantum of Solace though.

Honestly - what the hell was that about?

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

    Recent watches for me:

Elysium - Quite a good sci-fi action romp. I did find Sharlto Copley's accent rather offputting (I know he is South African, but somehow it sounded put on). Not a bad film.

Django Unchained - Really rather good.

Had to watch both on my phone as I have no idea how to move them on to my TV.

My band - Crimson on Silver  For sale - Blackstar HT-5S

Gear - Guitars, amps, effects and shizz. Edited for Phil_aka_Pip, who is allergic to big long lists.

Chap tortured by the Japs in WW2 confronts his tormentor years later

Not great, weak dialogue, can't recommend it

    What the deuce?!

Admittedly Copley did not like the character or how it made him feel acting it... but I though Kruger was a bigger bad-ass than Koobus Venter and they're both awesome bad guys! Kruger is based on soldiers from the 32 Battalion soldiers in the SA Bush wars.
A sig-nat-eur? What am I meant to use this for ffs?! Is this thing recording?

I honestly don't think anybody understands Quantum of Solace. It's just massively shitty. Does the plot even make sense, on any level? Something about water?

a couple of mexican films by the same director
'los bastardos' is about a couple of mexican illegals in california, has a very haneke kind of feel. pretty good and worth watching (dont read any reviews as they give away too much, it doesnt have the most convoluted plot so you dont want to spoil what little there is)
'heli' is his most recent film and set in mexico, about drug dealers, police corruption, pretty grim but good

'a touch of sin', a chinese film with a kind of 'amores perros' feel - 4 stories dealing with the dark side of chinese society, corruption and violence. was a bit surprised to see a chinese film so open about the darker side, but it turns out that its not been released in china itself.

lastly, 'pieta'. what is south korea cinema best at? yep, revenge.
a revenge film about a brutal debt collector.

    X-Men DOFP - 8/10

Been waiting for this since watching the cartoon about 20 years ago. And it didn't disappoint. Not perfect but easily the best Xmen film yet.
