    That's gonna be watched ASAP
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

  • Watching it now. Very Ray Harryhausen in places.

With as little spoiler as possible......

The monster was great, definitely looked like a model / actor in costume. With the tiniest CGI thrown in.

Felt very much like the production values of the original trilogy.

Fair Play to Disney again, they've pulled it out of the bag with the right directors in place - felt it dragged a little in places but then its only Epi 1 and Mando was the same IIRC.

Lots of hints to the older films/storyline which is a good thing.

    Can't wait for next week...

I also watched the Boba Fett Story thing that was suggested after it, that was good too.

  • I like that Fett seems to have sustained long term or perhaps even permanent damage from his encounter with the Sarlaac.

BTW @dano You might want to add a spoiler warning to the
'Vot eva happened to the Transylvanian Tvist?'

Def got "Jason and the Argonauts" vibe from that one particular scene.
Have hopes for it - Boba gonna need to step up if he wants to be a crime boss!

  • I enjoyed it but had the feeling that escaping from the Sarlacc should have been a bit more of a struggle. He seemed to get out of it rather quickly/easily IMO.

I really liked the flashier costume of the Tuscan raider head honcho.

    Was massively underwhelmed tbh.
Fight scenes were lethargic. The creature looked good but didn’t feel like it belonged on Tatooine (or SW in general). The Sarlac escape seemed really rushed and half-arsed imo, seeing as that’s supposed to be one of the things that made BF such a badass, it looked like anyone with lighter could pull it off.
I’m sure it’ll get better but it’s a big fat meh from me.

How does Chubby Fett fit in his armour?
    Red ones are better.

I only realised today that the actor playing Boba is the same guy who played Jango Fett in Episode 2 Attack of the Clones. I guess the character being a clone makes sense for the same actor.

  • I liked episode 1 but BF didn't have the same fluidity of movement as The Mando.  I sort of assume that they all train the same way, but I could be wrong on that

I'm on the fence. The sarlacc escape was a big deal in the old expanded universe and took serious force of will and physical reserves on his part.

And he was a bit creaky while fighting the ninja shield guys compared to the ass handing he delivered to the stormtroopers in the Mandalorian.

Will keep watching as it has potential but agree that episode 1 is underwhelming, particularly compared to the Mandolorian season as a whole.

  • I liked it, I'm worried there's going to be a face reveal on the Tuscan raiders (at one million subscribers, slap like now!)

I think trained assassins paid to plan an attack on you are probably better coordinated than troopers sent to retrieve a grogu.

I get that the sand people will provide a more visible rite of passage than not being digested. But I'm also secretly hoping they return to it as he is processing it (so a non linear narrative where Mandos flashbacks at the forge are linear in time)

  • I haven't enjoyed the main canon Disney Star Wars stuff, however, this is pretty good.  It's got Matt Berry too, so that's a bonus.

Watched the first episode in my lunchbreak (working from home).  It was enjoyable.  Will be interesting to see how it develops.
