We were driving south past York on Saturday lunchtime, ish, very heavy snow, roads not gritted, quite slow going. Got to about Wakefield and it was mostly rain. 
Lots of rain over the weekend, lots of flooding and v high rivers, soaked fields. Nothing too bad though, not really. 
the storm in Jan was worse for us - took power out for a whole weekend, which meant it was pitch black from 4pm and freezing out here. Just glad we didn't get a repeat of that.

Went over to my mums place yesterday. Couple of fence panels down both sides of the garden but not too bad I thought…. then I noticed what had knocked the fence down on one side. Next doors ancient and huge apple tree has finally given up the ghost and the trunk has cracked and split just above the ground. The whole thing is now resting on the fence. Next door is rented out as bedsits via an agency, I’ve reported it to them but I’m not holding my breath as it took them over a year just to fix a small hole in the shared alleyway.

When this all kicked off, I said I'd be happy if we kept all the tiles on all the roofs.

So, I'm happy.

Lost 3 trees out of the garden, but as we planted 20-odd last week, we're still up overall.

had my stroll out through Ashridge and up on to the Ridgeway to the beacon, was marvellously windy, I loved it. Lots of trees down, mostly big beech that had rotted through in the middle, dunno if there's something attacking beech, making it rot through like that.
