Why the F would you call your business "xxxxGate" in this day and age?

    Asking for trouble.

    Seagate was already taken.

The name was possibly inspired during a submersible parts shopping trip to Maplins

The thing about his wife is what I read as well.

I haven't read anything about him owning salvage rights. Though I did read that apparently his long term goal was deep sea oil and gas.
Based on what we know of him  presumably his pla  was to dive down with hundreds of jerry cans, and a repurposed zeppelin for the gas.

I doubt very much he had any salvage rights.  That's pretty far-fetched.
just found out that it was Paul- Henri Nargeolet who is a director of RMS Titanic, that owns the salvage rights - Who also died on the Titan

How can anyone "own" salvage rights to an abandoned ship in international waters? Sounds like horseshit to me.

I did look into it a bit when some guy from the company was interviewed the other day. It's all on wiki anyway.

RMS Titanic Inc is basically a company that's changed hands a few times, but in whatever form, they started recovering artifacts from the ship in 1987. In 1994 they won some federal court order in the US to be granted salvor-in-possession rights to the Titanic.

One assumes some palms were greased.

For me they sort of crossed a line when they got permission to cut open the radio room roof to recover the Marconi radio - given the fate of the operators who called for help until the last possible moment and who died, that should stay with the wreck, IMHO.

It's all just commercialism off a marketable tragedy.

HMHS Brittanic is owned by a fella called Simon Mills.  After the insurance pays out, the insurance company effectively own it.  I don't think it cost him much at all.

The Titanic anchor was built in Netherton and there's a big plastic replica in Cradley Heath. Neighbouring towns to Brierly Hill.
An area once famous for iron and steel and particularly chain making.
Tipton is a small fishing village in the borough of Sandwell.

Round Oak was where Merry Hill is now?

When we went to Australia we visited an historic lighthouse and the big lighthouse lenses were from Stourbridge. The tour guide was distinctly underwhelmed by our explanation that’s near where we live. But there was some amazing industry and craftsmanship out of this area once upon a time.

my friend Richard worked at Stuart Crystal and then ran Red House glass repairs for many years, he would occasionally feature in newspapers as the skills in repairing lead crystal had become so rare it was one if those things that would get asked in the Observer or somewhere and they’d give his details. I don’t know what the Observer readers made of the thickest Black Country accent you’ve ever heard. Richard was also the technical person behind Diamond Bottleneck slides. I don’t know who made the ones in Australia, these massive bits of lead crystal that had been taken half way around the world in the nineteenth century and were still intact.
